about

This is one that really wasn't planned as part of the album. Mom heard an earlier demo I'd done with my wife Debby, and was surprised to learn it was by Pink Floyd. This exchange of unfamiliar music is a big part of my relationship with Mom; she exposed me to jazz and folk, and I expose her to rock and electronica. She thought this song sounded vaguely like folk, but the lyrics are really what held her attention. A positive outlook in the face of adversity.

So we decided to add Mom to my demo. I mixed the three vocals to be equally balanced so there isn't a clear lead singer. I've used this approach a lot since then. I think it puts the listener's focus more on the words.
